How it works
hbtroc.ch puts radio amateurs who sell and buy gear in touch. The site sells nothing itself and never touches the money: it helps you find the right person, at the right price.
Sell
- Create your account, you use it both to sell and to buy.
- Post your listing: photos, real condition, included accessories. Choose a fixed price or an auction with a starting price and a duration.
- Your first listings are reviewed by a moderator before they appear. After that, they go live straight away.
- When it is sold, you receive the buyer's contact details. You arrange payment and handover between you.
Buy at fixed price
On the listing, click “I'm interested”. Your message goes to the seller's inbox without revealing your email. When you agree, the seller marks the listing as sold and you each receive the other's contact details.
Bid
You enter your maximum bid, that is the highest price you are willing to pay. Nobody sees it. The site bids for you, one increment at a time, only if someone outbids you.
Example: starting price CHF 100, increment CHF 5. You bid up to CHF 180: the displayed bid stays at CHF 100. Someone bids CHF 130: the site puts you back in front straight away, at CHF 135. If someone bids CHF 200, they take the lead at CHF 185 and you get an alert.
In case of a tie, the bid that arrived first wins. A bid placed in the last 3 minutes extends the auction by 3 minutes: everyone has time to react.
The S-meter of each auction rises with the number of bids: S1 for one bid, S9 for nine, and beyond that it goes into the red.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost?
Nothing. No subscription, no commission on sales.
Does a bid commit me?
Yes. By bidding, you commit to buying if you win. The seller, for their part, commits to selling at the price reached. A member who does not keep their word may get a negative review, or even be blocked.
How do I pay?
Directly between you: handover in person, bank transfer, TWINT, whatever suits you. For a large amount, handover in person with a test of the gear is still the safest. Never pay with a gift card or an anonymous money transfer service.
Can I withdraw or edit my listing?
As long as it has received no bids and is not sold, you can move it to drafts (it disappears from the site) or delete it, from My listings. From the first bid, the auction runs to the end. The text and photos can be edited at any time; the price, condition and end date, however, are locked once the auction is under way, and bidders are notified of every change.
Do I need a licence to buy a transmitter?
To buy, no. To transmit on the amateur bands, yes: a licence is required, and the gear must be used according to OFCOM rules. The seller honestly states what it is, the buyer remains responsible for how it is used.
What happens to my data?
Your name, email and phone number are never published. They are only shared with the person you make a deal with. See the Privacy page.
Can I ask the seller a question?
Yes, at the bottom of each live listing, in the “Questions to the seller” section. The question and its answer are public: everyone benefits. Email addresses and phone numbers are not allowed there, you get the seller's contact details at the end of the deal.
A listing looks suspicious to me
Use the “Report” button under the listing. A moderator looks at it quickly, the seller does not know who reported it.
